Building a Unified, Agile Force: Gen. Allvin’s Vision for Great Power Competition During the AFMC Senior Leader Conference, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David W. Allvin emphasized a strategic shift toward integration and collaboration as key to addressing global security challenges. The new Integrated Capabilities Command (ICC) aims to accelerate modernization by bringing together requirements experts and operators to focus on mission threads. “We haven’t necessarily asked the central question, ‘In order to do what?’” Allvin noted, highlighting a shift to integrated solutions. “How do I connect this part of the Air Force with the next part?” By answering these questions, the Air Force is optimizing for capabilities that enhance overall effectiveness. Bridging Data & Speed: Phalanx Griffon at Emerald Flag 24-3 At?Emerald Flag 24-3 the United States Air Force showcased its newest aerial networking innovation, Phalanx Griffon. Developed under the DAF BATTLE NETWORK, Phalanx Griffon provides secure data transfer across multiple levels of security, ensuring critical information reaches every platform precisely when needed. This capability, tested using Emerald Flag’s unique JADC2 infrastructure, demonstrates resilient, software-defined networking in action. As Kyle Traver, lead program manager, explained, “Phalanx Griffon enables us to get the right data to every platform where and when it needs to be.” Maj. Gen. Luke Cropsey praised the team’s innovation, saying, “It’s encouraging to see the team push boundaries and connect systems in ways never done before. The recent return of the B-2 “Spirit of Nebraska” after completing Programmed Depot Maintenance is a major win for U.S. Air Force preparedness. This achievement, 91 days ahead of schedule, sets a new standard for efficiency and precision. The success of this PDM overhaul emphasizes the vital importance of optimizing aircraft sustainment and maintenance – a lesson being closely applied as we move forward with testing and fielding the B-21 Raider.
