NiuSky Pacific Limited (NSPL), the air navigation service provider of Papua New Guinea, has reaffirmed its commitment to safe and efficient airspace operations with the renewal of its contract with Aireon for its space-based automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B)?data. NSPL has been?operational?with Aireon data since 2020 across its 1.6 million square kilometers of its Port Moresby Flight Information Region (FIR). With Aireon data, NSPL has access to real-time surveillance across Papua New Guinea, facilitating seamless navigation and surveillance services across the country, and within the region. Aireon was privileged to demonstrate its capabilities last week at an Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E))-sponsored technology discovery event (Thunderstorm 24-4).?Over a three-day period, Aireon showcased its global air domain awareness capabilities to approximately 230 government end users and technical experts seeking solutions to improve Department of Defense expeditionary operations.?The Aireon exhibit featured our live feed displaying real-time air traffic in the Indo-Pacific region.

? NEW METRIC ALERT ? The Aireon Safety Dashboard has added a new metric to the platform: Time to Conflict (TTC). Time to Conflict (TTC) calculates the amount of time it takes for a potential conflict between aircraft to be detected and resolved. Using Aireon’s space-based automatic surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) data to track this new metric, ANSP safety personnel will be able to identify weaknesses in their airspaces before they become issues.
