???The 3rd European Service Module (ESM) that recently arrived at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida has been unboxed! The teams have opened the transport container, performed first inspections and then installed the ESM onto its tooling stand on the spacecraft factory floor. This Service Module for the Orion spacecraft will propel the #Artemis astronauts to the Moon. Built by Airbus on behalf of European Space Agency - ESA, the European Service Module supplies the astronauts with everything they need to survive - from air and water supply to propulsion, energy supply and thermal control???? ???? What a show! Airbus military aircraft at AIRPOWER airshow 2024 took centre stage both on the ground and in the air. Some 250,000 spectators came to Fliegerhorst Hinterstoisser in Zeltweg ???? this weekend where the ?sterreichisches Bundesheer (Austrian Armed Forces) put on a spectacle with an incredible line-up and fantastic performances. Our customers displayed the Airbus-built products in the most impressive ways. To mention a few, the German #A400M and #Eurofighter Demo Teams, the German #NH90 Display Team, the Tiger helicopter team, our Messerschmitt Foundation's Me262, the Patrulla águila with their C-101s, the Belgian Defence A400M team and the German Tornado crews on static display and, not to forget, our amazing Austrian hosts with their unique Eurofighter/ C-130 Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) display among others. #Defence #DefenceMatters #Airshow

Successful quarry tests for future Mars rovers! For the first time ever, a rover has successfully demonstrated it could collect samples on another planet all by itself. The 4-wheeled rover, equipped with a robotic arm to retrieve the samples, drove across the quarry and parked with an accuracy of 10 cm. It then located the tube with its arm and cameras, picked it up and stowed it safely on the rover. It did all of this completely autonomously. What sounds simple was a world first test of this capability! #TeamAirbus also conducted a second test with a 6-wheeled rover equipped with enhanced autonomous navigation capability which could improve the performance of the re-scoped ExoMars mission and be useful for a lunar rover needing to travel greater distances. Quarry tests are an important step in the development process. They offer a unique and dynamic landscape that cannot be replicated in the Mars Yard test facility at Airbus in the UK. #SpaceMatters #SpaceExploration #BehindTheScenes

This was the closest it has ever been before, putting BepiColombo at just 165km from Mercury's surface, with a trajectory passing for the first time through the planet’s poles. ??
