Great ideas are fueled from the grounds up! The DINSTAAR Ramp can reduce the current cargo weight ground support equipment approach ramps for C-17 aircraft by 50% and have a target intent for the C-5 aircraft reduction by 117% in total weight. These ramps will be an off-the-shelf purchase and meet multiple ground support equipment variants further saving time in the loading and unloading of aircraft. #USAF #AFWERX #Innovation #SparkTank

??Exercise Bamboo Eagle 24-3 provided a great opportunity for United States Air Force human performance teams to gather data on the physiological effects of prolonged mission flights on F-15EX aircrew, withe the goal of helping to refine procedures for managing long-duration operations and aircrew readiness for potential conflicts in the Indo-Pacific region. Researchers measured glucose levels, sleep recovery, cortisol levels, cognitive reaction times and hydration. Inflight physiologic systems, with sensors integrated into the aircrew’s helmets, captured real-time physiological data. They also used glucose monitors, collected waste samples, and recorded weight to assess hydration and energy levels. Post-flight, the team measured cognitive reaction times using an operational vision testing machine. #USAF #readiness #defense

#News As part of the United States Air Force Great Power Competition initiative, the service is organizing its major commands into Institutional Commands, responsible for organizing, training, and equipping Airmen, and Service Component Commands, responsible for preparing Airmen for warfighting in a combatant command’s area of responsibility. As an institutional command, AFMC will consolidate and establish new centers to rapidly develop, procure, field and sustain a pipeline of competitive capabilities to deliver decisive advantages to the force. What does this look like? Check out the story to learn more! #USAF #DAFGPC #defense #airforce

When a mishap happens, you can be sure our United States Air Force Safety experts are on it, investigating the what to determine the why. But with that comes what's called PSI, or Privileged Safety Information. Safety privilege ensures that analyses, conclusions and recommendations are shared only on a need-to-know basis, for DoD mishap prevention. This cannot be used for public release, disciplinary action, or any other non-mishap prevention purpose. In some cases, investigators may offer a promise of confidentiality to witnesses to help give safety investigators a rapid and unimpeded path to the truth. The ultimate goal--to prevent future mishaps and ensure combat and mission readiness. #safety #mishap #readiness #USAF

???Did you catch this stealth beauty in flight? Edwards Air Force Base revisited a significant chapter of aviation history with the return of the B-2 Spirit, 35 years since its first flight from Air Force Plant 42, in Palmdale, California to Edwards AFB. The reintroduction of the B-2 to a test environment is not only nostalgic, but a careful first step toward new experiments and technological upgrades that will ensure it remains a vital asset in the United States Air Force fleet. In addition to functional upgrades, a focus for the new campaign will be testing the integration of open mission systems architecture, known as Spirit Realm 1. #USAF #modernization #B2 #stealth #AVgeek #defense

?Strategic modernization of our nuclear capabilities is key to national defense. AFMC Commander, Gen. Duke Z. Richardson, joined Under Secretary of the Air Force Melissa Dalton, other Air Force senior leaders and Congressional staff on a visit to Malmstrom Air Force Base to view current missions and operations, emphasizing the importance of current modernization efforts. “For the first time in our nation’s history, we face two major nuclear powers as strategic competitors,” Dalton said. “In order to stay ahead, it’s critical we take a holistic approach to the Sentinel transition, and this includes supporting the Airmen who operate, defend, and maintain the weapon system.” #modernization #ICBM #Sentinel #USAF #Defense
