NATO has taken a page from the United States Air Force’s innovation playbook, setting up a technology accelerator and a venture fund to nurture and financially support small companies working on cutting edge #technology development in critical fields. “The U.S. has been really doing a lot of very important work … and many of the European countries, the U.K. and others, are really trying to learn from that and do that themselves,” Dame Fiona Murray, vice chair of the board of directors for the?#NATO Innovation Fund?(#NIF), said during an event at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). “We can really see how the technology is doing,” she said. The companies “can engage with the end user and … can really get a good feeling for what’s needed in the security market to meet the demands and the needs [of the warfighter], or even think of whole new solutions and capabilities that could be an advantage for us,”?said Barabar McQuiston, chair of?Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (#DIANA). The Air Force Agency for Modeling & Simulation (AFAMS) both hosted and also served as the United States Air Force representative to the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (#JTSE) Working Group this week here in #Orlando. The JTSE Working Group is a Joint Staff-led community of interest that brings together representatives from the Services and Combatant Commands (#COCOMs) to address joint #training issues and requirements. The JTSE is a simulated operational environment composed of live, #virtual, and constructive (#LVC) components, allowing joint #warfighters to conduct realistic training exercises. ? #AFAMS also represents the Air Force as an enterprise representative to the Air Force/A3TE-led Joint National Training Capability (#JNTC) Working Group. Both forums facilitate stakeholder information sharing, capability requirements management, and technical interoperability. AFAMS identifies enterprise requirements and advocates on behalf of the #USAF and Joint community. Additionally, the agency hosts a conference for Major Command (#MAJCOM) representatives to discuss training gaps and requirements, helping to satisfy the needs of the #Air_Force and other services. The United States Air Force has launched the Squadron Innovation Fund (#SIF) Marketplace, a new initiative aimed at revolutionizing how #innovation is funded and fostered across the service. The marketplace is a virtual platform designed to empower #Airmen to actively develop and support innovative ideas to address operational challenges and improve processes throughout the #Air_Force. “The SIF Marketplace allows Airmen and squadron commanders to engage in idea submission and funding allocation directly,” said Senior Master Sgt. Brett Kiser, Office of Disruptive Thinking senior enlisted leader. “The goal is to create a more agile, transparent, and collaborative system for solving problems at every level of the Air Force.” Historically, higher command levels directly distributed Squadron Innovation Funds leave individual squadrons with limited flexibility in how they use these resources. The new SIF Marketplace process provides squadron commanders with virtual tokens — each worth $100 — that they can allocate to fund promising initiatives. This token-based system gives commanders more control and enables them to collaborate with other units and pool resources to support larger, more impactful projects. To participate in the SIF Marketplace, whether as an innovator submitting ideas or as a commander allocating resources, Department of the Air Force members must create an account on the VISION Joint Innovation System platform. Submissions are open year-round, with quarterly funding windows that provide continuous opportunities to receive support. For more information on participating or creating your account, read the full article at: https://lnkd.in/gAyTE4eQ Air Force Agency for Modeling & Simulation (AFAMS) AFWERX Team Orlando

?? #AFAMS Spooktacular Halloween Party! ?? What a frightfully fun time we had yesterday with our AFAMS teammates, as we took some time off to celebrate Halloween with a spook-tacular Halloween Family Feud and trivia competition. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, unwind, and celebrate our hard work throughout the year, and reminder that building up a strong team culture can sometimes be just as important as achieving our goals. A big shoutout to Ms. Arnitra Davis who not only hosted the Family Feud, but also organized the entire event and made it a Halloween to remember! Air Force Agency for Modeling & Simulation (AFAMS)
