Maximizing Collaboration to Reduce Physician Shortages in Tribal Medical Facilities Through Graduate Medical Education.
关于我们
Our Mission: The mission of the American Indian Medical Education Strategies (AIMES) Alliance is to advance American Indian and Alaska Native access to care, reduce physician shortages, and expand opportunities for training physicians to benefit communities by collaboratively advancing federal and Tribal solutions that expand graduate medical education in Tribal communities through communications, outreach, and policy development. Our Vision: The AIMES Alliance envisions an environment where urban and rural Tribal members benefit from fully staffed medical facilities filled with physicians who provide high-quality and culturally appropriate care and invest in the communities where they serve. The Alliance also envisions a medical education and training environment where allopathic and osteopathic physicians have extensive opportunities to benefit communities and further their education and training in urban and rural Indian Health Service, Tribal-administered, and other indigenous clinics and facilities. AIMES Alliance membership is open to all Tribal nations, Tribal organizations, and public and private non-Tribal entities that are invested in reducing physician shortages in Tribal communities and expanding graduate medical education. To receive detailed membership information or apply, please visit www.aimesalliance.org or reach out to [email protected].

Today, we're happy to highlight two incredible Tribal members dedicated to promoting GME: A Tribal-GME pioneer in the Seattle Indian Health Board, and a leader in the next-generation of Tribal-GME partnerships in Chapa-De Indian Health. In addition to operating successful GME programs (and being shining examples of the magic that happens when Tribal medical facilities establish GME partnerships and programs), they also provide culturally appropriate and compassionate care to thousands of Native and non-Native patients. Today, we salute you and thank you! #GraduateMedicalEducation; #GME; #TribalHealth; #Alliance; #Collaboration; #PhysicianShortages; #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth; Pamela Grindley, Tayloranne McLeran

The AIMES Alliance is honored to be made up of incredible organizations like Germane Solutions that are dedicated to advocating for GME and expanding GME opportunities at all levels of government! We love seeing the amazing work that they're doing!
Yesterday, Germane Solutions' CEO, Susan Hearn-Stiffler, and Senior Manager, Scott Masin, had the opportunity to meet with Ohio Senator Hearcel Craig and his incredible team to discuss the importance of GME funding in Ohio and the role GME plays in increasing the state's health outcomes. As a mission-first consulting firm, it is always exciting to be able to enact change by engaging directly with policymakers who share a vision for improving healthcare access and outcomes. We discussed how robust support for GME not only helps address the growing physician shortage but also ensures that Ohio remains a leader in training the next generation of healthcare providers. Our team is proud to advocate for sustainable GME funding, recognizing its ripple effect on community health, economic growth, and medical education excellence. Thank you, Senator Craig, for your commitment to this critical cause—together, we can build a healthier future for Ohio!

As we wrap up our week celebrating a few amazing national Tribal organizations, we're happy to highlight the National Indian Health Board (NIHB)! NIHB (https://www.nihb.org/) is the leading national voice for Tribal health generally. If you have a question about Tribal health, NIHB is the place to start as NIHB provides federal advocacy, policy formulation, research, communications, and technical assistance to Tribes on a variety of Indigenous health issues. NIHB continually presents the Tribal perspective while monitoring federal legislation, and creates opportunities to network with other national health care organizations to engage their support on Indian health care issues. NIHB is supported by 11 regional health boards that empower Tribes located across the country. Examples of these regional boards include AIMES Alliance members ALBUQUERQUE AREA INDIAN HEALTH BOARD, INC and the Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board. Thank you to NIHB for your dedicated leadership! Continuing our theme of spotlighting a few amazing national Tribal organizations, get to know the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI)! NCAI (https://www.ncai.org/) was founded in 1944 and is the largest and most representative American Indian and Alaska Native organization serving the broad interests of tribal governments and communities. NCAI is a leading voice for Tribal governments in Washington D.C. and drives policy solutions through advocacy, policy development, and research. Like the AIMES Alliance, NCAI advances policy issues and initiatives through a consensus process! American Indian and Alaska Native governments pass resolutions to become members of NCAI, selecting official delegates to the NCAI Executive Council, Mid-Year Conference, and Annual Convention. During these events, delegates consider issues of pressing concern in accordance with their governments’ policies, goals, and needs. NCAI members vote on and pass?resolutions?to determine NCAI’s position on a broad range of issues. Thank you to NCAI for your dedicated leadership!
