As a business guy, I like to try and oversimplify everything. So here’s all you really need to know about the big tech breakthroughs that got us to where today. 1980s/1990s: Development of Neural Networks If you asked a Neural Network what it did, one thing it would say is this: I UNDERSTAND HUMAN LANGUAGE (that’s all you need to know). 2017: Transformers (A Type of Neural Network) If you asked a Transformer what it did, one thing it would say is this: I CAN READ ONE BOOK & MEMORIZE EVERYTHING. IF YOU ASK ME A QUESTION, I KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE ANSWER. IF YOU ASK ME TO WRITE A STORY, I CAN BASED ON WHAT I LEARNED. Post 2017: Large Language Models (A Type of Transformer) If you asked a Large Language Model what it did, one thing it would say is this: I CAN READ A MILLION BOOKS & MEMORIZE EVERYTHING. IF YOU ASK ME A QUESTION, I KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE ANSWER. IF YOU ASK ME TO WRITE A BOOK, DRAW A PICTURE, OR MAKE A VIDEO, I CAN BASED ON WHAT I LEARNED. Over the years, a lot of people have asked how I got into the training business. Well, it was literally by "accident." During my junior year at the University of San Diego, I was in a terrible car accident. I had two brain hemorrhages and had to drop out of school for a bit while recovering. During that time, I picked up a habit. I started listening to motivational books on tape. That's really all I did—all day, every day. The first person I listened to was Denis Waitley. To me, he was always the gold standard. I felt what I learned from Denis about mindset helped me get better. He's my favorite to this day. Listening to him inspired me to listen to others. I was so inspired, I left college for good after my junior year, and my first job was working for Tony Robbins. But over the next 25 years, it seemed like I met all the old legends—except Denis. 25 years later, a friend was holding an event. He knew this story and asked me to go to the greenroom. He had a surprise. And it was this (see pic)—introducing me to Denis Waitley! To me, it was like meeting Michael Jordan. ?? Best part? He and I both left the event early to head to the reception afterward. Well, the event ran one hour late, and Denis and I got there early! So for the next hour, he and I sat alone in a big ballroom and laughed! It was like one hour alone with the #1 person in the world I’d like to spend an hour with. He was cooler than I could have imagined and it was truly one of the best days of my life. The number one lesson I learned from Denis is that: "Winning is not about achieving victory at the expense of others, but rather about progressively pursuing your goals while benefiting and uplifting those around you; essentially, focusing on a 'win-win' mentality where success is achieved by helping others succeed as well." #ThrowbackThursday #DenisWaitley #Mindset #PersonalGrowth #Leadership #Success #WinningMindset #Motivation #SelfImprovement #Inspiration
