The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) is investigating the recent chemical fire at the Bio-Lab facility in Conyers, Georgia. The fire, which led to the evacuation of 17,000 people, involved hazardous pool chemicals and has raised concerns about air quality and the release of toxic chlorine gas. The EPA is seeking experts in risk assessment and exposure assessment for the upcoming peer review of 1,3-butadiene, a chemical used in plastics and synthetic rubber manufacturing.
