We’re still blown away by how our design community came together in the name of shaping the next generation of designers for Portfolio Day! In addition to graphic designers just getting started on their professional journeys, we welcomed students from Kansas City Kansas Community College, Johnson County Community College, Kansas City Art Institute, University of Missouri-Columbia, and The University of Kansas! Our professionals hailed from companies including VML, Evergy, Merge and Signal Theory Inc. Jennifer Spencer & Kimberly Spencer from The Spencer Group, Inc. shared their insights on what creative recruiters are looking for at design agencies. Edwing Mendez, AIGA KC board alumnus and founder of Nada Creative Collaborative shared what it’s like to work as an in-house designer, in addition to the ins and outs of managing a freelance career.
