It's critically important to know what to do when someone has a cardiac arrest-- even at work. Last week, we held our first Lunch n' Learn Hands-Only CPR training program to improve outcomes for cardiac arrest victims in the workplace. Led by our student Heart Heroes from our Youth Leadership team, we partnered with Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute and headed to Philadelphia to train 8 employees from the operations department at GSK. Our incredible students did a wonderful job of educating the participants and helping them practice the simple skills needed to save a life. We are grateful to GSK Operations Manager Lynda Stroyek Lerch for inviting our team to her company to train her department. Do you know where the AED is located in your workplace? Does your company have a plan for responding to cardiac emergencies? Are people trained in CPR and how to use an AED? Those first few minutes are most critical, and while calling 911 is absolutely the first step, the difference between life or death is usually determined before emergency responders arrive.
