Chinese architect Liu Jiakun has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Pritzker Architecture Prize ?? Born in 1956 in Chengdu, Liu Jiakun is renowned for his human-centered designs that harmoniously blend traditional Chinese elements with contemporary architecture. His notable projects include the Luyeyuan Stone Sculpture Art Museum (2002) and the West Village (2015) in Chengdu, a development that integrates residential spaces with nature and public areas. The Numbers Are In: How Are Small Firm Architects Really Doing? Every quarter, we ask small firm architects about their business performance, financial health, and confidence in the future—and the results are in for Q4 2024. The latest EntreArchitect Small Firm Business Pulse Report shows a slight dip in economic confidence, with the Business Pulse Index (BPI) dropping from 57.8 in Q3 to 56.8 in Q4. Some firms are thriving, others are struggling. The big questions: ?? Billings are down for 36.1% of firms—is this a warning sign or just a seasonal shift? ?? 41.3% of firms reported increased project inquiries, but others saw a decline. Where is demand heading? ?? Cash flow remains a challenge—are small firm architects prepared for what’s next? I believe data like this is critical to understanding where our industry is heading and how small firms can prepare.
