AIA Philadelphia COTE supports and promotes sustainable practices within the architecture and planning profession.
关于我们
AIA Philadelphia COTE currently led by co-chairs @Roshni Krishnan, @Katherine Urbaniak, and @Danielle Fleischmann consists of five sub-committees. 1.Policy and Advocacy meets weekly to advocate for policy and legislation that advances the role of architects in addressing climate change. COTE PAS will promote legislation that encourages high performance, low carbon impact buildings, environmental justice, and seeks alliances with groups that share similar goals and want to advance similar policy. 2.Design Awards: AIA National has defined the criteria for the AIA COTE Top Ten Awards to be more broadly the Framework for Design Excellence, with a focus on integrating sustainability into all considerations of design achievement and awards. The Design Awards sub-committee is made up of COTE members interested in helping integrate these requirements into the general design awards program. 3.Zero Waste is deeply committed to the mission of debunking myths about waste and to correcting inequity in our consumption-based culture. Meeting weekly, we are developing resources for the purpose of educating others on waste reduction, elimination of single-use plastics, and inspiring change. In 2021 we will inaugurate a first-of-its-kind AIA Zero-Waste Planning Guide for events. 4.2030 Working Group: The mission of the AIA 2030 Commitment is to support the 2030 Challenge and transform the practice of architecture in a holistic way. AIAPhillyCOTE’s 2030 Subcommittee works to both increase the number of 2030 signatory firms to support current signatories through high quality, tailored educational programming and collaborates with 2030 WG across the country as part of the AIA’s Climate Action Plan. 5.Environmental Justice sub-committee commits to educating ourselves more on environmental justice, its underlying racial justice, and supporting other organizations that champion this cause.?

We are saddened to share the terrible news that?Josh Abbell, our beloved AIA Philadelphia COTE member and friend passed away in?June. Josh was a Senior Project Architect at Ballinger and was an integral part of AIA Philadelphia COTE when it started in 2016. He was very approachable, kind, calm, and was a champion of sustainability. He chaired the 2030 working group subcommittee and had an incredible ability to bring clarity to complex topics. He took a great interest in planning presentations for our members. Our hearts go out to his wife Amy, his son Julian, and his family. AIA Philly COTE has created a video tribute in memory of Joshua Abbell.
