On Wednesday, the AIA Arizona Committee on the Environment (COTE) meeting included a presentation on Demystifying Energy Modeling with Jeremi Van Wave, AlA, Director, Energy Management & Sustainability at ADP and Craig Green, PE, Principal at G2 Energy Solutions. Attendees learned when and how to use energy modeling, and how it should be implemented in conjunction with other sustainability modeling tools for maximum impact. Save the date for the 2025 AIA Arizona Associates Gathering on the afternoon of Friday, April 25, in Phoenix! With a theme of “Resilience,” this annual event produced by and for AIA Arizona Associate members will include both need-to-know information and inspiration for emerging professionals. Confirmed speakers include Juan Rovalo,?the first firmwide ecologist at Perkins&Will, as well as Jonathan Peiffer, AIA NCARB, and Sarah Potzler, AIA, who will describe the paths to licensure in Arizona. The afternoon will begin with insightful presentations at the AIA Arizona office, and will conclude with a fun tour and reception in the Abbey, recently renovated by Jones Studio. On Wednesday, March 12, AIA and NOMA members gathered for an evening reception at Skoop Premium Ice Cream in Old Town Scottsdale. A reception celebrating and supporting the AIA Phoenix Metro Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) Committee and NOMA arizona, together. Support for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging remains important and unwavering to AIA. We support each other, and we are allies and advocates for all in the profession. That support and allyship remains constant. Nationally, AIA is working to create meaningful, lasting change, from dismantling barriers in AIA systems to expanding inclusiveness and diversity in the profession to increasing participation of racially and ethnically diverse populations, women, and other underrepresented groups. As a member association, from national to the local level, a sense of belonging is vital. On Friday, members gathered at the AIA Arizona office in Phoenix for a half-day program geared toward AIA10 members (architects who became licensed within the past 10 years). The workshop included insightful presentations and conversation on the path to leadership, the architect’s seal, self-development as an architect, finances, and client relationships.
