If you haven't made a GPT yet, this is your sign. They turn documents into magical talking books. Sam Altman demos how quick they are to create. If you use them, share! Here are a couple of mine: First, what's so great about GPTs? (Or Projects, if you're using Anthropic's Claude, or Gems if you're using Google Gemini?) You can upload your own documents to it so that ChatGPT will first go to that document for information. It's a process called RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation). FOR EXAMPLE: If you're in HR and you're constantly referring back to a benefits manual, you just upload the manual and talk it to it like it was a talking library book in Beauty and the Beast. A couple of my personal favorites: 1. Newsletter Writer (I use Claude Projects for this) (First - a note: I don't use this to write the newsletter, because I like writing them. Okay, read on.) I write the weekly AI Mindset newsletter (sign up for free!). So I uploaded 5 of my original newsletters so it would have a frame of reference. Then I give it instructions: Keep the same tone, humor, practical approach, etc as I do in these newsletters. Clean up this draft. Create a practical framework that my readers can follow. Important: I instruct it not to write a newsletter for me, but rather to wait until I give it a great first draft. Otherwise my newsletters wouldn't be me, they would be Claude. I'm not looking for it to write my newsletters, I'm looking for it to help me with a practical framework for the audience. 2. Onboarding Manual (I use ChatGPT for this) We have new admin aide guides at NYU for each team. I uploaded a 30 page guide so that a new hire could simply go and check for processes and answers from the GPT instead of consistently asking. This isn't to isolate a new hire- it is to give them more confidence so they don't feel like they have to go to their manager for every little question. It also speeds up the process to getting answers, rather than sifting through a long Word doc. GPTs. Projects. Gems. Share how you're using them, if you are! We gotta learn from each other, people!

I Can Tell When It's Written by ChatGPT—So Why Are There No ChatGPT Detectors? In my latest article, I dive into this paradox. I explore why ChatGPT's default "personality" makes its content recognizable to frequent users, yet remains elusive to detection algorithms. I also discuss how the fine-tuning process shapes this default style and why is it complicated to create effective detectors. What cues usually tip you off that something is written by ChatGPT?

McKinsey & Company, Senior Partner and Global Leader of QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey

I loved sharing with Bart Ziegler of The Wall Street Journal some of my thoughts on how AI might look by 2030. Generative AI models are evolving quicker than anyone could have anticipated. ChatGPT 3.5 was a groundbreaking model when it first went public. Yet two years after the AI boom, it seems almost primitive compared to the latest version—as well as countless other models now available. Even without reaching human-level intelligence, I believe AI, especially gen AI, will radically transform the modern workplace and become embedded in most processes. It’s an exciting time to be in this space and co-lead QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey with Alexander Sukharevsky! Check out the piece, and let me know your thoughts: https://lnkd.in/gtfcpjrX #QuantumBlack #AIbyMcKinsey

Google DeepMind has driven some of the major breakthroughs in AI, so it was interesting to interview its leader Anna Koivuniemi, and hear her perspectives on future of AI and the areas of innovation her team is currently focused on. She discusses AlphaFold, DeepMind’s AI model for predicting protein structures, which has helped shorten scientific research timelines from a manual multi-year process to minutes. (This morning, DeepMind Co-founder Sir Demis Hassabis and Director Dr. John Jumper were co-awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their work in developing AlphaFold) With so much noise surrounding AI these days, Anna has some really interesting points of view on the ways it will help improve society by solving complex problems across industries.?She also shares her thoughts on the AI research process, how to build a successful AI program, safe and responsible AI usage, and more, You can read the full interview here:
