关于我们
A Healthier Democracy is a platform for collaboration and community organizing at the intersection of health and civic engagement that leverages the untapped power of healthcare workers and healthcare settings as the people and places where social change can emerge. We provide a home for healthcare workers, community organizers, and healthcare organizations under the shared vision that together we can address our nation’s pressing social issues through collaboration. We are unleashing the healthcare sector as a source for social good. We are creating A Healthier Democracy. Portfolio Organizations at Launch A Healthier Democracy is home to three high-impact national initiatives at launch. We believe our nation’s biggest and most complex challenges require innovative solutions leveraging health care settings and health care workers. Our centralized model enables us to quickly launch new initiatives drawing on deep expertise in healthcare organizing, creative communications, and marketing. Vot-ER (Vot-ER.org) - A nonpartisan voter registration movement that has organized over 26,000 healthcare providers and 700 healthcare sites to help non-urgent patients register to vote. Get Waivered (Getwaviered.com) - A program rooted in political organizing that is converting our nation’s ERs into the front door for opioid addiction and has helped over 5,000 clinicians receive their DEA-X waivers to treat patients with opioid addiction. GOTVax (GOTVax.org) - An initiative aimed at leveraging a get out the vote framework to deliver vaccines directly to vulnerable communities throughout Massachusetts via hyper-targeted vaccine pop up clinics. Action Collaboratives and Fiscal Sponsor A Healthier Democracy also hosts Action Collaboratives that allow healthcare organizers and groups of healthcare organizations to make progress toward solving complex challenges together. Our Fiscal sponsorship program helps social entrepreneurs navigate the winding path from vision to impact.

"Despite the stakes, physicians vote at rates nearly 20% lower than the general population, which is concerning given our unique role in influencing health policy." Grateful to Forbes for highlighting the importance of civic health on the precipice of this critical election night. What I'm most proud of is the impact our team at Vot-ER made in the 2024 election cycle so far. With time still left on the clock, our team has helped over 168,000 clinicians, patients, and their families make their voices heard through voter registration, mail-in ballots, and other readiness actions. But its more than the impact in numbers. Amid declining trust and disillusionment, one thing remains clear: healthcare professionals have the opportunity to embrace their role not only as healers but as champions of civic engagement. We don't merely treat symptoms; we combat the roots of inequity when we help our patients vote. And Vot-ER is doing its small part helping to change the culture of medicine so it can embrace this opportunity. This is the heart of creating A Healthier Democracy. ??? Health policy is a key issue in the 2024 elections, with stark differences between parties. Democrats largely support legal abortion and national decision-making, while Republicans prefer state-level control. Confidence in public health institutions also divides the parties. The election outcome will significantly influence U.S. health policy. Victor Agbafe #HealthPolicy #2024Elections

??? As we gear up for the 2024 elections, healthcare policy is front and center! Recent insights from the New England Journal of Medicine reveal what voters care about most: healthcare costs, medical bills, and federal coverage for home health services. The opioid crisis, obesity, and mental health are top public health concerns. Partisan divides are evident: Democrats favor universal healthcare and expanding the ACA, while Republicans lean towards private insurance and scaling back the ACA. Both parties agree on the importance of Medicare and Medicaid but differ on spending priorities and cost control strategies. The election outcome will significantly shape U.S. health policy.
