AgTech Alchemy

I've recently returned from the World Agri-Tech Summit in San Francisco—the event of the year for AgTech. It was my first time attending, and it did not disappoint! First of all, the San Francisco vibe was a blast. As someone here said, "Once in a while, you should get an SF injection." AI and startup energy are everywhere. My Takeaways from the Conference: ? Biggest Value: For me, the greatest benefit of the event is bringing together an amazing group of people in one place. In just two days (plus side events and meetings), you can achieve what would normally take months of online work. ?? Biggest Topic? AI. (Surprised?) CVCs see it as the hottest area for investment, startups and corporates are integrating LLMs, and major partnerships are forming—like the one between Planet and Anthropic. ?? Biggest Disappointment? No farmers. None. I don’t see how AgTech can thrive without strong collaboration with the people who actually implement and use the technology. What can we do about this? ?? Biggest Discovery? The AgTech Alchemy community. Huge shoutout to Rhishi P., Sachi Desai, and Walt Duflock for building an incredible, informal community of like-minded people passionate about AgTech. I came back energized, with tons of new connections and ideas. Big thanks to Liron Cohen Yanay, Patrick Honcoop, Sergey Komardenkov, Matt Foley, and many more!

Interesting and likely positive news for us as we look to leverage more #AI capabilities in our solutions by ideally prices going down. “Commoditize your complements,” ideally companies like Microsoft who benefit most from increased cloud usage push down the cost of frontier AI models and those model makers use their cash too push down the cost of compute which becomes a boon to solutions providers. This hopefully leads to better, more complete and ultimately more impactful solutions to support our activities.

We often hear about #GenAI especially at big firms and especially about asking how to even start but never moving past the powerpoint, well the folks at Bayer clearly have. Starting with their original announcement at Last March's #WorldAgriTech they continue to move forward and grow and along with other AgTech Alchemy community members KissanAI, Digital Green, Traive are bringing the innovation to the farmgate. A lot of how to is covered well in a recent #WhitePaper authored by Rhishi P.
