#PennVet's Center for Stewardship Agriculture and Food Security (CSAFS) hosted this month’s seminar series on the application of Artificial Intelligence in Animal Agriculture. Michael Roth, director of conservation and innovation at the PA Department of Agriculture, highlighted the capabilities of robotics and AI for automated harvesting, advanced surveillance, and remote diagnostics. Daniel Foy, co-founder and CEO of AgriGates, discussed machine learning capabilities that are advancing animal health and sustainability. #CSAFS Director Tom Parsons wrapped up the seminar by sharing examples of the latest AI applications advancing swine health and welfare. AgriGates had the privilege of presenting at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine lunchtime lecture yesterday, diving into the opportunities and challenges of big data and AI/ML in animal agriculture in animal agriculture. We’re thrilled to announce that the Center for Poultry and Livestock Excellence (CPLE) has approved funding for our project: ???? “An Integrated Behavioral Data Platform for Machine Learning: Enhancing PA Research Capabilities.” This funding will support our partnership with Penn Vet Swine Teaching and Research Center, advancing precision livestock farming by integrating behavioral data and machine learning-driven insights into research and industry applications. With this project, we aim to strengthen Pennsylvania’s research capabilities and empower producers, researchers, and industry leaders with data-driven decision-making tools that drive innovation, improved welfare and sustainability. Exciting News for Pennsylvania AgriTech! We’re thrilled to announce that AgriGates has been awarded a Pennsylvania Agricultural Innovation Grant, a historic initiative launched by Governor Josh Shapiro to drive advancements in precision agriculture and food animal welfare. With over 250 million food animals in Pennsylvania, our state has a massive opportunity to lead in AgriTech innovation—but currently, 63% of AgTech solutions come from outside the U.S., and 99% of animal agriculture technology is developed outside Pennsylvania. This grant allows AgriGates to expand our sensor development lab and accelerate the creation of next-generation AI-driven livestock monitoring tools, ensuring Pennsylvania’s farmers and producers have access to cutting-edge, locally developed technology. ?? To celebrate, we’re joining our partners at Penn Vet’s Swine Teaching and Research Center for a gathering of Pennsylvania’s agricultural innovation leaders in Southeast PA!
