The Aging Life Care Association? (ALCA) is a non-profit association representing more than 2,000 Aging Life Care Professionals? - geriatric care managers who have received membership with ALCA. Aging Life Care Association? New York Chapter members recently spoke with graduate social work students at Fordham University about aging life care as a career path and the many ways they can apply their skills to support older adults, disabled adults and families!
The NYALCA DEI Committee had an inspiring day at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Work in Manhattan, introducing Black and Brown graduate social work students to aging life care as a career. It was a fantastic opportunity to highlight the growing need for diverse social workers in this field and to share insights on how they can apply their skills to support older adults, disabled adults and families. Janet Smith LCSW-R, ACSW,C-ASWCM the event organizer and Fordham alum, Melissa McHam Green LMSW, Abenaa Udochi CSA and Melissa Sheehan in a meaningful conversation with students eager to explore their career paths. Their enthusiasm and thoughtful questions reinforced just how vital their perspectives and experiences are to the future of eldercare. A special thank you to Melissa Fiore Lippiello Associate Director for Academic Affairs and Director of Continuing Education, for her support and coordination at Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Work.
