This week's CMC Spotlight is our own Nicole Amico Kane, MSW, LICSW, CMC, Director of Care Management! At Aging Wisdom, all our Care Managers are Certified Care Managers, which ensures that they are qualified to perform the full range of care management tasks through a validated, standardized examination. All CMC Candidates must meet rigorous education, experience, and supervision requirements to qualify for the exam. Candidates are tested on the five domains unique to care management. The test is administered by an independent testing company. In order to maintain certification, CMCs are required to participate in continuing education and professional development. ?CMC Spotlight on Nicole Amico Kane, MSW, CMC, LICSW? Seattle, WA Nicole Amico Kane, MSW, LICSW, CMC serves as the Director of Care Management at Aging Wisdom in Seattle, WA. Nicole is an Advanced professional member of the Aging Life Care Association and a Board Member of the ALCA Western Region Chapter. ?? Area of Specialization: Nicole and her team at Aging Wisdom focus on supporting older adults navigating progressive illnesses such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other health challenges. They are known for their expertise in handling complex care issues and guiding families through conflicts. In addition to assisting clients with high-level needs, Nicole also enjoys working with proactive planners and Solo Agers who want to prepare for the future. ?? What Inspired Her: Beginning her career in hospice, Nicole developed a deep appreciation for working with older adults and their families. Care management felt like a natural next step, allowing her to support clients and families more holistically. With the encouragement of mentors Lisa Mayfield and Jullie Gray, Nicole earned her CMC credential to enhance her skills and professionalism. She is a licensed clinical social worker and a certified care manager. ?? We are proud of these incredible Aging Life Care professionals! CMC certification promotes the delivery of safe and effective care management services in any practice setting, by: 1. Establishing standards of experience and knowledge required for the competent, ethical practice of care management. 2. Formally recognizing those individuals who meet the eligibility requirements of the National Academy of Certified Care Managers and pass the validated and standardized Care Manager Certification Examination. 3. Encouraging ongoing professional education and training of individuals engaged in care management. 4.
