There's been a lot of talk today about teleoperation and humanoid robots.
In general, teleop is great. It can help support data collection, robot skill development, testing hardware limits, and plenty of other useful things.
We look at it as one tool, in the toolbox of many, that we use when it makes sense. Teleop "goes wrong" when companies try to pass it off as something else. If you use theatrics to obfuscate what's happening, then that's just a planned deception.
To adopt humanoid robots into our lives and throughout society, we must build trust and confidence in the robots and the companies who bring them to market. There's no need for parlor tricks.
