Agentis is pleased to welcome Javier J. Rodriguez as a business litigation partner. Javier has extensive litigation experience, with more than 80 trials and arbitrations and over 50 appeals in 35 years of practicing law in South Florida. He is recognized as a member of the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates and has been certified as mediator in civil cases since 2008. Javier, who has an accounting background, has a concentration in handling disputes involving accounting, financial matters and commercial, real estate and construction litigation. Prior to joining Agentis, Javier was a partner in the Miami office of Saul Ewing. An avid sailor since his youth, Javier recently took part in the ARC, a trans-Atlantic sailboat race. Javier is a graduate of the University of Miami Herbert School of Business and the University of Miami School of Law. Javier is a native Spanish speaker and is conversational in French.

One of our favorite activities each Christmas is gathering to trim the tree and celebrate with a cup of hot chocolate. From all of us at Agentis, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Higher interest rates caused stress on portfolio companies of private equity firms, which accounted for more than 16 percent of commercial bankruptcies through this year. But Professor Kevin Kaiser of the Wharton School says the number of bankruptcies from private equity firms, who are quicker to cut their losses compared to other companies, is relatively small and is lower than what many expected.
