Chartered in 1951, Associated General Contractors of Maine, Inc. (AGC) proudly enters its second half-century as a state chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC). AGC is dedicated to ensuring a sound and healthy construction industry, and providing the public with an assurance of the skill, responsibility and integrity of AGC-member firms. AGC Maine works for Maine’s Construction Companies by providing necessary leadership on issues from sitework development to environmental policy. The mission of the Associated General Contractors of Maine is to enhance the environment in which the association’s contractor members work by developing a healthy market for construction services, promote the balanced interests of its members and advocate for the highest standards of skill, responsibility and integrity. The Chapter members and staff maintain a continuous relationship with the Bureau of General Services, Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Protection, Federal Highway Administration, Bureau of Labor and numerous other governmental agencies. (AGC) of Maine is the state’s largest construction industry trade association. The Association maintains an office in Augusta and has over 200 members statewide. October 5th, 2024 (Phippsburg, ME) - AGC Maine & members gathered at Sebasco Harbor Resort this past weekend for the AGC Maine Fall Conference & M.A.C. Award Celebration to celebrate Arthur C. Dudley (President of Arthur C. Dudley Contractor), the 2024 Major Achievement in Construction (M.A.C.) Award recipient. Since its inception in 1975, the Major Achievement in Construction (M.A.C.) Award has celebrated individuals who have made significant impacts in the construction industry, marketplace, and Maine. Art joins the ranks of a distinguished list of previous honorees, leaders whose legacies have shaped our community. The first winner of the award was Ival “Bud” Cianchette and since then have included other recognizable names including Herbert E. Sargent, Peter Vigue, Jack Kelley, Denis Landry, and many others. “Art’s dedication to excellence and collaboration in construction has set a standard in our industry. His work across many of the schools within the state reflects not only a commitment to quality, but also a deep respect for the collaborative spirit that defines our industry. AGC Maine and members headed up to Orono last week to celebrate students attending the University of Maine who received scholarships from our Education Foundation at our annual UMaine Scholarship. After recognizing students, everyone connected over delicious food and heard from our special guest, Representative Amanda Collamore. Each year, the AGC Maine Education Foundation awards scholarships to students pursuing a degree in a construction related field. Our AGC Maine Runnahs' were off to the races this weekend at the Ragnar Events LLC #reachthebeach2024 in New Hampshire! 205 miles, ~33 Hours, 12 people, 2 vans, and 1 team! ?????What is the Ragnar Reach the Beach? A team of twelve runnahs' pack into 2 vans and spend the next 2 days and 1 night running from point A to point B. Each person takes turns, relay style, covering 200-ish miles of beautiful country roads, passing city scapes and over rolling hills, to complete the ~200 mile course and cross the finish line in Hampton Beach.
