Behind the Canvas // Jerri McDorman, an artist from Springfield, Ohio, has specialized in Encaustic painting for 16 years. Fascinated by the medium's textures and layers, she opened her studio at Hatch Artist Studios in downtown Springfield in 2016. Encaustic painting, an ancient hot wax process, combines beeswax, dammar resin, and dry color pigment, resulting in durable artworks that can last for centuries. Both of McDorman’s pieces are inspired by the quote: "We cannot know love or hatred by what is before us, but by what is within us." - Matthew Henry. They represent how unity creates a light that moves through and flows out from each of us, allowing our individuality to contribute to a collective, perfect picture.

Behind the Canvas // Shelley Kensler is an American multimedia artist whose work explores disembodied mysticism and self-discovery in nature. Her practice aims to transform discomfort into catharsis and evolution.

Behind the Canvas // Alex Wasson is an Illinois-based artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Oil Painting from the American Academy of Art. Her work explores realism with a playful approach, focusing on identity through personal and shared stories. Wasson's artistic interests also include Life Drawing and Sculpture.

AGCF's inaugural Unità art auction on Tuesday brought our vision to life, showcasing luxury as a catalyst for change and embodying our values of hope, compassion, and unity. Four female artists created unity-themed pieces, auctioned to support our mission of empowering women and children while promoting environmental stewardship.
