As leaders we need to know/remember/learn that our staff/team are leaders too. Listen, consider, respect them as a human being; respect their work, thoughts, ideas. Also, give opportunities for self-care during their work day; they are not robots. #agapefamilycaregroup
Our researchers have found that treating people with respect on a daily basis is one of the most helpful things an individual leader can do.

1. Trauma-Informed Care: Recognizing and addressing the trauma that many children in foster care have experienced. Training for foster and adoptive parents, as well as professionals, in understanding the impacts of trauma on child development and behavior. 2. Stability and Permanency: Prioritizing the child's need for stability and a permanent home environment. Efforts should be made to minimize the number of placements a child experiences and to expedite the process of finding a permanent, loving home through reunification, guardianship, or adoption when appropriate. 3. Child-Centered Decision Making: Ensuring that decisions are made in the best interest of the child, taking into account their needs, wishes, and well-being. This includes involving children, as appropriate, in decisions that affect them. 4. Family Engagement and Support: Engaging and supporting birth families, foster families, and adoptive families. This includes providing pre-service and ongoing training, resources for addressing the needs of children, respite care, and access to support groups and mental health services. 5. Cultural Competency: Promoting cultural competency and sensitivity to the child's cultural, racial, and ethnic identity. This includes matching children with families who can honor their cultural heritage and providing training for caregivers on cultural competency. 6. Collaboration Among Stakeholders: Fostering collaboration among all parties involved in the child welfare system, including social workers, legal professionals, educators, and healthcare providers, to ensure that the child's needs are met in a comprehensive manner. 7. Continuous Training and Support for Caregivers: Offering continuous, evidence-based training and support for foster and adoptive parents to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the complex needs of the children in their care. This should cover a variety of topics, including behavior management, supporting educational achievement, and addressing mental health issues. 8. Monitoring and Evaluation Implementing systems for monitoring and evaluating the outcomes of foster care and adoption placements to ensure the continued safety and well-being of children. This includes regular assessments and feedback mechanisms for caregivers. 9. Post-Adoption Support: Providing ongoing support and resources for adoptive families after the adoption has been finalized to address any emerging challenges and to support the child’s integration into their new family. 10. Advocacy and Policy Support: Advocating for policies and practices that support the best interests of children in foster care and adoption systems, including sufficient funding, child welfare reform, and enhanced support services. #BrighterFuturesSC #AGAPEFamilyCareGroup #YorkSC #lancastersc #SCDSSG #rockhill #indianland
