AFS Egypt hosted a special Iftar Gathering with nearly 150 alumni and volunteers from various years and chapters. ?? AFS Intercultural Programs India celebrated a vibrant Holi with host students, full of color and joy. ?? AFS Intercultura República Dominicana, Inc. marked a milestone with the closing ceremony of the first Comunidad Solidaria cohort and the official welcome of the second.? ?? AFS Intercultural Programs Sweden volunteers in the south organized a weekend camp for hosted students in the region.? ?? AFS Hong Kong held a Junior Chef Competition, where host students prepared delicious dishes from their home countries to share. ?? AFS Poland is preparing a Japanese Culture Day featuring calligraphy and origami workshops led by a Japanese host student and Polish volunteers. We’re honored to announce that the AFS Global STEM Changemakers Initiative has received The Forum on Education Abroad’s prestigious "Award for Advancing the UN SDGs through Education Abroad." This award recognizes innovative programs that promote sustainability and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education abroad. The AFS Global STEM Changemakers Initiative offers full-scholarship, STEM and sustainability-focused intercultural exchange programs for 5,000 people worldwide supported by bp. The Forum’s award highlights AFS’s commitment to fostering global citizenship and sustainability. Through immersive learning experiences, scholars gain technical STEM skills (such as digital literacy, design thinking, and data analysis) alongside essential global competencies (including emotional intelligence, teamwork, and intercultural awareness). I am thrilled to have participated in the "Global Leadership Program: International Affairs in a Transforming World" organized by AFS Intercultural Programs and the University for Peace (UPEACE) - UN Mandated! ??? This immersive virtual program was an incredible opportunity to connect with inspiring young leaders from around the world. We explored global leadership, peacebuilding, and intercultural communication through dynamic sessions, hands-on workshops, and a thrilling global debate. I also had the privilege of learning from experts in the field, gaining invaluable insights that truly broadened my perspective. A big thank you to the AFS Youth Assembly and AFS International team for organizing such an impactful virtual program, and to all the incredible leaders who participated and shared their knowledge and passion throughout the event!
