Empowering African refugee and immigrant youth and families through educational, leadership, and cultural programming.
关于我们
Worcester is one of the largest hubs in the country for African-born immigrants, with a population near 20,000. While some of these immigrants find socio-economic success upon moving to the United States, many others, including many refugees, do not. African Community Education assists African refugee and immigrant youth and families in achieving educational success and socio-economic stability through access to academic support, leadership development, cultural expression, and community outreach. We believe and invest in the transformative powers of education, mentorship, and access to opportunities. Through impactful programming and relationship building, we provide what kids and families need to succeed - the knowledge people are in their corner, eye-opening experiences, and the creativity to imagine a brighter future. For youth ages 10 and up, ACE hosts After School, Saturday, Mentoring, Summer Reading, and Workforce Development Programs. Through these programs, ACE provides access to tutoring, supplemental classroom time, experiential learning activities, and one-on-one mentoring which help students succeed academically. ACE also serves as a liaison between the student, family, and local public schools to ensure each student’s home and school lives provide environments for success. For parents of our students, ACE provides English as Second Language and Citizenship classes as part of our Family Education Program along with wraparound outreach services to help families access needed services and benefits. Through this work, we have changed the lives of thousands of African refugees and immigrants.

Let's support Mahad's future! Mahad's graduation from high school will represent another chapter for his family: the first to graduate high school. He is also the first to go on to college! Mahad is an outgoing athlete who plays for the varsity soccer team and ACE soccer team, runs cross country, and participates in indoor and outdoor track. He also plays basketball for fun! This year, ACE will cheer on eight students graduating from high school! ?? All eight plan to continue their education, whether through college or trade school. We want to raise $500 for each student to support their goals and families. Your support will help Mahad pay for college books and tuition! Please share and/or donate ?? https://lnkd.in/eYD9pB9r

Congratulations to Michelle and Zacharie, ACE's January Students of the Month! ?? Michelle and Zacharie exemplify dedication, curiosity, and a strong commitment to learning, making them outstanding role models at ACE. Michelle, a sixth grader at Learning First Charter School, attends the After School Program every day with her brother Brian. She stands out for her kindness and willingness to help others, whether assisting staff with projects or supporting her fellow students. Her leadership and generosity make her an essential part of the ACE community. Zacharie, a fourth grader at City View School, is always eager to challenge himself academically. He goes above and beyond during homework time, and he consistently pushes himself to improve his English skills. His hard work is paying off, and his progress has been remarkable. Outside the classroom, Zacharie is also the youngest member of the ACE soccer team, showing determination both on and off the field.
