When young African women rise, Africa rises! Inspiring and transformational voices led the charge at the Mastercard Foundation and Africa Leadership and Dialogue Institute convening #InvincibleAfricanWomen at #UNGA79. Earlier this year, Mastercard Foundation commissioned the “Young Women in Africa: Agents of Economic Growth and Transformation” to gain insights into young women’s growth and potential contribution to Africa’s economy. The report found that tackling systemic barriers towards the participation of young women in Africa’s workforce will drive an estimated $287 billion to its economy by 2030, boosting GDP by five percent. This reinforces the crucial role of women’s economic empowerment in driving the continent into a new era of transformational growth.
