On November 20, #AFLCMC hosted a HH-60W orientation flight at Wright-Patterson AFB. A crew from the 41st Rescue Squadron at Moody AFB flew the helicopter to #WPAFB so members of the HH-60W Program Office could see their hard work in action and to take flights around the Dayton, Ohio area. AFLCMC public affairs photographer TSgt Mikaley Kline took a ride in the sky and made a video of her adventure. (U.S. Air Force photos & video by TSgt Mikaley Kline). https://lnkd.in/dcizN7A8

NEWS: The United States Air Force identified Hanscom Air Force Base (Mass.) as the sole candidate location to host the headquarters for the new Air Force Information Dominance Systems Center. The Air Force announced the creation of AFIDSC within Air Force Materiel Command as part of the service’s Great Power Competition initiative to strengthen and elevate the Air Force’s focus on Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management; Cyber; Electronic Warfare; Information Systems; and Enterprise Digital Infrastructure. Four existing information dominance-related Program Executive Offices will re-align from AFMC’s Air Force Life Cycle Management Center to create the new center, led by a 3-star commander. The commander will be dual-hatted as the DAF Command, Control, Communications & Battle Management Program Director. The PEO directorates aligning under AFIDSC’s command are: C3BM Cyber and Networks Electronic Systems Business Enterprise Systems The current estimate for the center staff is 136 positions. There will be minimal impact on the Program Offices designated to become part of this center, as personnel are expected to re-align in place. The DAF anticipates making a final basing decision by the end of the year and plans to standup the new center in 2025. Lt. Gen. Donna Shipton, Commander, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, recently spoke to a classroom full of up-and-coming acquisition professionals at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) Air Force Fundamentals of Acquisition Management (FAM-104) class on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. During her talk, Shipton told the class that she wanted to hear from them as they most likely held different perspectives and that the #USAF needed their infusion of energy and ideas. She talked about the immense opportunities available to them throughout the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) and the greater Air Force as they progressed in their careers. She also asked the class to challenge themselves and continuously improve themselves, personally and professionally, but also take care of themselves as they are the Air Force’s most important asset. Shipton concluded her time with the class by answering questions from the students. FAM-104 is the Initial Skills Training course for military and civilian #acquisition professionals. It provides a foundational understanding of basic project management skills and an overview of Air Force/DoD acquisition. ??(U.S. Air Force photos by Jim Varhegyi)
