关于我们
The Affordable Housing Investors Council is a non-profit association dedicated to the development of high-quality affordable housing in the United States. Our members are companies that support affordable housing by investing in federal low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC). Since the credit was created in 1986, AHIC’s members have invested more than $100 billion to create safe, decent housing for low income working families, seniors, the disabled, formerly homeless children and adults, and veterans. Overall, the credit has fueled the development of more than 2 million homes, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs and supporting local economies. These properties have emerged as the best-performing real estate asset class in the country, with foreclosure rates of less than 1 percent. AHIC provides stimulating educational opportunities to investors, creates a lively forum for investors to share their insights on issues facing the field, and promotes the investor’s voice and perspective in this unique public/private partnership. Through these activities, as well as the creation of best practices for the industry, we seek to preserve and strengthen the housing credit as an efficient and effective tool for the development of affordable housing in the United States.

Could legalizing SROs and converting empty offices into them help alleviate the housing crisis? Interesting idea from Gensler and The Pew Charitable Trusts.
Are 'micro-apartments' converted from offices the answer to the housing crisis?

President and CEO of Women's Affordable Housing Network (recovering Tax Partner in Affordable Housing industry)
I continue to be amazed by the incredible people in this industry, and so many were gathered at Affordable Housing Investors Council —an exceptional Fall Summit led by Kim Duty (she/her) and her team. The Atlanta's Innovative Approaches to Affordable Housing made me especially grateful for the leadership of Mayor Andre Dickens, Terri Lee, Joshua Humphries, Dr. Eloisa Klementich, CEcD, and Frank Fernandez, who are collaborating together and coming up with clever ways to expand housing options for our neighbors. It was clear that they genuinely enjoy working together, finding moments to laugh and keep things light while tackling the challenges of this complex and heavy social issue. To top it all off, Michelle Foster hosted a fantastic National Association of State and Local Equity Funds (NASLEF) reception to close the night—keeping me, and many others, out way past our bedtimes! ?It was awesome to connect with Women's Affordable Housing Network (WAHN) leaders, members, allies, and sponsors, as well as meet new people, who are sure to be friends. #AffordableHousing #AHIC #WAHN

New research from Yardi Matrix looks at how affordable housing rents compare to market rate rents in different markets across the country and finds a wide range of variation. Market-rate housing is highly competitive with affordable housing in 15 markets, with occupancy rates in affordable below conventional. Several larger markets, however, show no competition between the two housing markets.

In Utah, Atlanta, and Cleveland, we are treating the housing crisis like a true crisis. That is why we—a bipartisan, public-private sector group composed of a Republican governor, two Democratic mayors, and the president of a bank-based Community Development Corporation—have come together to form the National Housing Crisis Task Force. Coming to AHIC's Fall Affordable Housing Summit next week in Atlanta? Don't miss this op-ed article by our keynote speaker Yusuf Dahl. "The Thurmond Amendment is one of the the last vestiges of the “tough on crime” ethos of the 1980s, the same era that gave us?mandatory minimum sentences?and the crack vs. powder cocaine?sentencing disparity." "The Thurmond Amendment most acutely affects non-violent offenders like myself. Ironically, if I had been convicted of murder, I would face fewer housing barriers today."
Removing the stain of conviction from our housing system?
