Our very own Certified Dementia Practitioner, Melissa had the opportunity to educate the community and families at Southern Ocean Center. Dementia is a disease that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. It can be caused by a variety of conditions, including Alzheimer's disease. Dementia can be a difficult disease to live with, both for the person with dementia and for their caregivers. There are many ways to help someone with dementia. Here are a few tips: * Be patient and understanding * Create a safe environment * Encourage social interaction * Help them stay active. Physical and mental activity. * Take care of yourself. If you are caring for someone with dementia, there are many resources available to help you. There are also support groups where you can meet other caregivers and share your experiences.
