It was all-hands-on-deck for Affinity by Molina Healthcare to honor the heroism that defined 9/11 with community participation in the 9/11 Meal Pack Day. With Molina New York’s Executive Leadership Team well represented as volunteers, we joined the annual, nationwide effort at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in Manhattan. In New York City specifically, 5,800 volunteers joined together for their two-hour shifts to pack nearly 2 million meals on Wednesday, September 11 for local distribution. This was part of more than 8.7 million meals for those across the country at risk of hunger. We were one of over 400 participating companies representing more than 25,000 volunteers including first responders, military veterans and corporate employees.

Affinity by Molina Healthcare was the proud, exclusive sponsor of the signature "Bamba Day" event honoring Senegalese spiritual leader, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba; a Sufi saint. Bamba lived from 1853 to 1927. The annual cultural event was held on July 28 in New York City and brings together thousands of followers from across the country. It serves as a remembrance of the Senegalese leader, honoring Bamba with prayers, a parade, speeches and free lunch among other activities. More than 20,000 people attended this year, with the Affinity team sharing educational information about our health care plans.
