Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, visited the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, being implemented by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), on January 18, 2025. Mr Vaishnaw inspected the tunnelling works at Ghansoli and expressed satisfaction with both the pace of work and the safety measures being implemented at the site. He was accompanied by Vivek Kumar Gupta, Managing Director, NHSRCL, along with other senior officials. Afcons was represented by Executive Vice Chairman Krishnamurthy Subramanian and Managing Director S Paramasivan, and other senior officials.? The Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji inaugurated the 13-km section of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor, being implemented by NCRTC, on January 5, 2025. This marks a new chapter in enhancing semi-high-speed regional connectivity for the National Capital Region. The 13km section of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor runs between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, and includes a 3.5km stretch of Package 6, being executed by Afcons. The Package 6 includes the construction of an elevated viaduct from Sarai Kale Khan station to the New Ashok Nagar DN Ramp, along with two elevated stations - Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar - among others. The total length of this section is approximately 10.56 km. The stretch comprises the New Ashok Nagar Station and the viaduct with six steel bow-string spans. The New Ashok Nagar station is the first elevated station of the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor in Delhi that will also have interconnectivity with the New Ashok Nagar Metro Station of the Delhi Metro. The Rehabilitation and Improvement in Water Supply Systems in Zanzibar, Lot-II project was inaugurated on December 24, 2024, in Mkorogo, Unguja District, Zanzibar, by the Honourable Minister of State (OR) Palace, Zanzibar, Mr Ali Suleiman Ameir. ? Zanzibar Water project consists of three schemes, viz. Dimani, Maungani & Mkorogo. The Dimani & Maungani Schemes were already operational, and now the Mkorogo Scheme becomes operational too. This portion consists of eight borewells, 1.6km transmission line of DI pipe, a Ground Service Reservoir, five surface pumps, an Elevated Service Reservoir, 64km distribution line of DI pipe, and HDPE pipes, 630 water meters, and, HMI panels for safe, smooth, and user-friendly automated operation from tanks. ? During the ceremony, Ndugu. Mwanajuma Majid Abdullah, Deputy Secretary General, Ministry of Water, Energy & Minerals, Zanzibar; Eng. Dr. Salha Mohammed Kassim, Director General, Zanzibar Water Authority; along with Zanzibar Government Officials and the team from PMC – Crux Consultant Pvt Ltd were also present. Mr Dhavalkumar Pravinchandra Soni, General Manager, Operations, and the project team were present from Afcons. Several communities will benefit from this scheme and get access to clean drinking water.
