This talk will explore the core principles that form the foundation of robust cyber defense in any workplace, focusing on the military's unique challenges. Topics will include the Principle of Least Privilege, secure network design, threat detection, patch management, and the importance of developing strong cybersecurity policies and training programs. Attendees will leave with actionable insights to enhance their organization's cyber posture, mitigate risks, and safeguard operational integrity. BIO Rich Greene is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over two decades of experience in the cyber domain. His journey began in the late 90s, during the early rise of the internet, where he nurtured a curiosity that would eventually lead to an accomplished career in offensive and defensive cyber operations for the Department of Defense (DoD) across more than 17 countries. Rich has served both as an instructor and operator, contributing to the advancement of cybersecurity strategies. Currently, Rich is a Senior Solutions Engineer and Instructor at the SANS Institute, as well as the owner of SITH2, LLC. At SANS, he leverages his extensive 20-year background in cybersecurity, intelligence, and special operations to deliver tailored solutions and comprehensive training to clients across various sectors. Rich holds 15 GIAC certifications alongside CISSP, and his expertise spans incident response, penetration testing, mobile device security, and more. In addition to his technical skills, Rich is dedicated to mentorship, collaboration, and the continuous pursuit of knowledge. He engages in presentations, workshops, and reports, helping both military and civilian leaders stay ahead of evolving cyber threats. Rich’s passion for excellence and education makes him a trusted authority in the cybersecurity field. Event News
