This July, Pennsylvania is adopting the 2021 International Building Code (IBC) as part of the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). The new code provisions are expected to take effect in July 2025. There are quite a few substantial changes to fire alarm system requirements that impact new construction. Join us with guest speaker Jason A. ?? Fire Dampers vs. Smoke Dampers – What’s the Difference? ?? Fire and smoke dampers are essential for controlling fire and smoke movement in buildings, but they are NOT the same. ? Fire Dampers limit the spread of fire and they close when high heat is detected. ? Smoke Dampers limit the spread of smoke and they activate when smoke is detected. ?? Inspection Requirements (NFPA 80 & 105): ?? 1 year after installation, then every 4 years (6 years for hospitals). ??
