With the 2024 MBA Building Excellence Awards quickly approaching, I wanted to highlight our team’s projects that have been selected as finalists. These jobs involved an incredible amount of hard work and commitment by everyone involved, and today, we celebrate this well-deserved honor. Today, I have the first of two projects that are being recognized, which was led by the Turner Mosites Joint Venture. The University of Pittsburgh's Central Utility Building aims to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption, as well as support ongoing construction and development across campus. The central utility plant produces 7,500 tons of chilled water for the university, with a future capacity to provide 15,000 tons. The other major component of the project was the distribution from the plant. This scope included approximately two miles of underground chilled water supply and return piping, greywater piping, and electrical distribution across Pitt’s hilly campus topography, which required extensive effort and coordination to limit the impact on the campus. The complexities of this project do not go unnoticed; they required careful planning and execution and a collaborative effort from all team members to ensure its success. This success was only possible through our strong partnership with Mosites Construction and Development Company, the University of Pittsburgh, Burns & McDonnell, and AE Works Ltd. #TurnerPittsburgh #BuildingTheFuture

It’s Throw Back Thursday - to the year 1990 - when we were still drawing our architectural plans by hand! Here’s some fun insights into the renovation and expansion by WTW Architects (now AE Works) of Penn State University’s iconic The Nittany Lion Inn! This 132,000 sq. ft. transformation added so many incredible features, including: 136 new guest rooms (totaling 223 rooms!), a 500-seat ballroom & multiple meeting rooms, a new workout facility, expanded kitchen and a new main entrance facing Park Avenue. We love looking back on our legacy projects and the lasting impact this one has had on the Penn State community. #NittanyLionInn #Architecture #HandDrawnDesign #Throwback #PennState #InteriorDesign
