On behalf of AUVSI North Carolina, I would like to thank everyone who attended the second annual NC Advanced Mobility Symposium last week. We had over 150 professionals from federal, military, state & local, industry, academia and non profit that traveled from across the nation and from within the state for the 2 day event. The focus of the event was to educate, learn about funding opportunities and forge partnerships that will move the innovation needle forward. We are only hearing positive feedback from the attendees. Many are pushing forward with some big partnerships. Over the last 2 years this event has only grown bigger and will continue to grow. In partnership with AUVSI NC Advanced Mobility Symposium, we are hosting a tour and a demo of AERPAW infrastructure on Nov. 12, 9:30 AM to 12 noon. The tour will start at AERPAW HQ at NC State Centennial Campus and we will move to Lake Wheeler Field Labs for the demo. The event is capped at 20 people due to space constraints. During the demo, you will have a chance to see how experiments with autonomous drones and software-defined radios are developed first at AERPAW's digital twin and then moved seamlessly to the real-world testbed. We will also show you how we are designing and building AERPAW's drones and radios, and tour our AERPAW Open Testing and Integration Center (https://lnkd.in/e-dvM6wA). The #5gsummit and the company visits organized by ITRI ended on Friday. Below are some more photos from the last two days (those I had from day one are at https://lnkd.in/eipu5Hna). It has been a very valuable learning and networking experience for me, many opportunities to collaborate with vendors and partners in Taiwan and other labs around the world. I learned a lot just listening to other testing labs and organizations including ITRI (Maggie Chao), NTIA (Julie Kub, Brian Larkin, Lauriston Hardin), SONIC Labs (Linda Ligios), i14y Labs (Katja Henke), KCCTech (Ike - Ahmet ?lkgün ?ark, MBA, Hakan Kavlak), SUTD (BinBin Chen, Mao Ngo), TIP (Olli Andersson), and the TIP lab in Indonesia (Muammar Nurdin). And passed those to my colleagues at AERPAW. O-RAN still has a long way to have mature deployments and Taiwan is leading the way with already many successful products. New products with advanced features are in the works such as O-RUs with 8x8 MIMO and massive MIMO planned by many vendors. Lions and QCT had several awards in the 5G challenge organized by NTIA last year: https://lnkd.in/erWN5924. A lot of new developments and features from Taiwanese vendors since then. ChungHwa Telecom presented various interesting use cases and results from deployments where O-RAN can make a difference. After the visit I am even more excited about the impact O-RAN can have across the full stack on 5G and then 6G with its open framework that accommodates innovations from new, small business players. A big theme in the event was collaboration and partnerships between testing labs, supporting each other to help advancing the O-RAN ecosystem together. As the AERPAW OTIC we are working on growing our engagements soon with new partners. (In parallel, we have recently been wrapping up our first O-RAN plugfest successfully in the AERPAW OTIC with a focus on repeatable O-RU testing. Our findings will be presented during the O-RAN F2F meeting next week.) Finally, I would like to thank Nana Chen, Simon Su, Tiffany Lin, and Maggie Chao for the wonderful organization that worked like clockwork, for your amazing hospitality, and for inviting AERPAW to the #5gsummit.
