So what is going on with the market on copper tube? We find ourselves in a position to ask the same thing. It's been reported for months about a shortage of worldwide copper inventories and that they are well below the future demand. We've heard for weeks that China is cutting some production based on the shortage of raw material. Currently we step into todays retaliation by Israel and that is unsettling for markets as there is a concern over continued unrest in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Lastly, copper was jolted, as traders digest US and UK sanctions that banned delivery of new Russian metal onto the London Metal Exchange (LME). So now what? Depending on what economist you read you can find predictions on where copper is headed and most say UP. Today it sits at $4.50 right now. WOW 18% since the middle of Feb. Our advice as always depends on your level of comfort when these things happen. - Don't buy more than what your risk tolerance is. More isn't better unless you're ready to ride the roller coaster of copper. - Get in front of your customers and explain what is happening. - Adjust quickly to your market to compensate for the increases. - Most importantly stay in touch we'll work through this together. When costs increase it's not always received well but the opportunity didn't stop because the cost increased, it just changed the status quo.
