We're wrapping up Black History Month with our commitment to fostering a culture that values and celebrates individual differences and their positive impact. During an event organized by AEP's Black Employee Resource Group, AEP Ohio External Affairs Manager Nala Kovach shared how she has navigated change throughout her career: “The biggest thing is owning your value and perspective. Remain confident and speak up to help you move forward.” Together, we continue to honor this legacy and promote inclusivity year-round. #Diversity #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackImpact

We know our lineworkers are brave. But today, we're proud that they're the kind of people who try to help, no matter what the emergency might be. A tractor trailer lost control on I-81 in Virginia, hitting an AEP Ohio truck there helping our sister company Appalachian Power restore power following a winter storm. The lineworkers inside didn’t miss a beat. After confirming they were each OK, they moved the truck to a safe place, then jumped out to see how they could help. Lineworkers Zach and Cory helped a passenger get out of the tractor trailer's cab, and offered first aid to others involved while waiting for emergency responders. "These two men went above and beyond right after being in an accident," their supervisor said. "They prioritized the needs of others over themselves." Way to go, guys!

February is #BlackHistoryMonth, a time devoted to recognizing the contributions of Black Americans. Columbus-born Granville T. Woods worked with electricity, invented the inductor telegraph and received nearly 60 patents — many of which improved safety — over his lifetime. #SafetySaturday
