Happy GIS Day! ?? Today, we celebrate the incredible power of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in shaping the world and driving innovative solutions. At AE2S, GIS plays a pivotal role in many of our projects, from mapping water systems to improving decision-making for communities. With the recent Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and current Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) regulations, GIS is more critical than ever. It's helping us gather and analyze essential data to locate lead pipes, create service line inventories, and ensure safer drinking water for all. GIS tools are helping us navigate complex challenges, one map at a time. ?? #GISDay

Last month the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) announced a final rule requiring drinking water systems to identify and replace lead pipes nationwide. Alongside the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), new funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will help communities ensure safer, lead-free water. Learn more in our latest article.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) recently announced the final Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), bringing significant changes to how water systems address lead in drinking water. With a strong focus on transparency, public health, and proactive measures, the LCRI outlines key updates such as locating and replacing legacy lead pipes, lowering the lead action level, improving sampling protocols, and more. Check out this article to learn more about the six key focus areas of the LCRI and how they impact water systems. Have questions? Reach out to our Drinking Water Practice Leader, Nate Weisenburger.

Navigating new drinking water regulations is challenging enough, but finding the funding to meet these standards can be an even bigger hurdle for many water systems. Funding is available — sometimes finding it is just a matter of knowing where to look. Reach out to our team to find out what options are available for your system. ???? #PerspectivesOnWater #LCRR #LCRI

Last week the City of Woodbury, Minnesota broke ground on the largest infrastructure project in city history - a 32 MGD water treatment plant and over 17 miles of pipeline. Once complete, the water treatment plant will be one of the largest PFAS treatment plants in the county! AE2S has enjoyed working closely with the City on this momentous project and we’re excited to continue to support the City on this project over the next several years.
Thursday, Nov. 7 was an exciting day as we broke ground on the new permanent water treatment plant with members of city staff, Mayor Burt and City Council, elected officials and our project partners. ??♀???♂? Once complete, the water treatment plant will remove PFAS from all groundwater wells used to supply Woodbury. As part of the effort, 17 miles of underground pipeline will be installed across the city to bring water from the city's 20 wells to the centralized treatment plant, which is expected to be operational in 2028. Currently, nine of the city's wells are being treated at the temporary water treatment plant and at three additional interim treatment facilities at well sites. We celebrate the hard work that has gone into this project thus far, and appreciate our residents' support and patience as we work diligently to deliver the highest-quality water possible!

With most service line inventories now completed and submitted, water systems are required to send notification letters by November 15th to customers with unknown service line materials or those with lead or galvanized steel service lines that need replacement. We recommend checking with the primacy agency for proper guidance documentation. Learn more about this deadline: https://lnkd.in/gedQ6cbj
