Navigating the US healthcare system is hard though people gathered for this event are making it easier. Navigating care with a complex condition (i.e. not easily diagnosed, hard to manage, care crosses medical disciplines and specialities) is even more difficult. A purpose of our session was for others to better understand the unique challenges faced for this patient group and to begin to incorporate plan designs to remove obstacles and address these concerns. A big thank you to Ann Lewandowski and Steve Ditto for sharing your personal stories, discussing challenges and successes, and providing practical suggestions that could be implemented to better serve patients with complex conditions. ?? It is a joy to engage change makers and I am thankful for the opportunity to work alongside Ann and Steve to improve patient access to care. Excited to be on stage next week at RosettaFest in D.C.! Come hear about plan design for patients with complex conditions. ?? I'll be on stage with Ann Lewandowski and Steve Ditto. Both of these individuals work in healthcare and have seen the challenges of accessing care with complex conditions. Our desire is for patients to more easily access the support they need through plan design and care solutions. ?? Our goal is to help advisors and plan architects better appreciate needs of all plan members including the unique challenges faced. Now that spring conference season has wrapped up... Time to start planning for the fall. “At the end of the day people won’t remember what you said or did, they will remember how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou This past Sunday we took our son, Jackson, to his first Cincinnati Reds game for his 8th birthday. He was over the moon excited about seeing his Reds play the Baltimore Orioles. We were blessed to have some amazing seats, right behind home plate next to the visitors dugout. Before we left for the game he insisted on making a sign telling the players that it was his 8th birthday and 1st game. Needless to say, the sign paid off! The first base coach for the Orioles gave him a ball and talked to him for a bit and the Reds third baseman, Santiago Espinal, gave him a bat after the game! Back to the quote (if you’ve read this far!). The Reds got beat 11-1. Was Jackson disappointed? Sure, but the entire experience outweighed the loss by leaps and bounds. Thank you to those that went out of their way to make my son’s first baseball game one that will be etched in his memory forever. Witnessing the joy in my son’s eyes will be etched in my memory forever. 20 years from now, he won’t remember the loss. He’ll remember the experience and the feeling of his first ballgame.
