We won the VisionOS Hackathon! ?? We also got the AdXR integration prize! This weekend, I had the pleasure of working with Sal Mohammed, Waldemar Osmala, Lawrence Lin, Nasif Zaman, and Chaitanya Landge on DOGO - an XR experience in charitable operations and a unique approach to raising funds towards helping patients in countries like Nigeria! Winning my first Hackathon... I learned a lot of things: ?? XR/VR/MR is a complex field that has a lot of potential for development in the future! Frameworks in Vision OS are still "beta-y", but I know for a fact that they'll be very promising when fully developed. ?? Development in VisionOS is costly. For reference, the Vision Pro alone costs $3499. Now factoring in the developer strap, which is a $300 adapter that helps aid in providing a faster connection between the development environment and the device itself, it's not a light price for development. ?? In general, tasks involving spatial computing are computationally taxing. For example, 3D Gaussian splatting algorithms for detecting cloud points in photos and making 3D meshes typically rely on powerful GPUs. These GPUs should typically be CUDA-ready GPUs with Compute Capability 7.0+ (which can be very costly!)
