Attention 1Ls!!! The Advocates are hosting our fifth competition for the year, John Black #MootCourt Competition,?on March 21-22! We will be having a lunch and learn for the upcoming competition on Monday, February 24 at 12:00 pm in Room 220.?Lunch will be provided on a first come first served basis.?This competition is open to 1Ls ONLY (including F.L.L.M.s in their first year), offering a fantastic opportunity to dive into the world of moot court for the first time.?It's a perfect chance to build your advocacy skills, gain valuable experience, and enhance your resume.?I encourage all 1Ls to come to the lunch and learn to hear more about the competition, ask questions, and eat good food! Calling all Houston Area Attorneys and Judges! I hope you’re doing well and staying warm. The Advocates are excited to invite you to serve as a judge for our upcoming competition. What is it? The?Hippard?Novice?Mock Trial sponsored by The Fuentes Firm is?an intramural mock trial competition open to all?first-year?law students at UHLC, providing them with a hands-on opportunity to develop their advocacy skills. When and Where? ?? February 7–9, 2025 ??John M. O’Quinn Law Building, University of Houston Law Center 4170 Martin Luther King Blvd., Houston, TX 77204 Your Role as a Judge: Judges are responsible for evaluating pretrial motions, opening statements, direct examinations, cross examinations, and closing arguments. After the round, you’ll offer valuable feedback to competitors and score their performances using a score sheet. Each round of the competition is expected to last 150 minutes.
