The Chicago Bulls are helping us honor and thank health care workers by inviting a group Advocate Health Care teammates to select home games throughout the season for a VIP experience at the United Center. Josh Giddey will be “Gidden' to know our heroes” before each game while they sit courtside for warmups and enjoy a special meet & greet! ? The 7 Stone team is the biggest cardiac telemetry unit at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. This dedicated team is responsible for continuously monitoring the cardiac activity of patients who are in the hospital for a variety of reasons including heart failure, stroke, open heart surgery, trauma and more. Their work behind the scenes is critical to keeping patients healthy and on their path to healing. ? Advocate Charitable Foundation and Aurora Health Care Foundation hosted GATHER, a night to amplify our commitment to disrupt the root causes of food insecurity. A conversation between CEO Gene Woods and Chef José Andrés highlighted the humanitarian’s dedication to addressing food and hunger issues, and our shared commitment to enhancing the overall well-being of our communities. In addition, Advocate Health Care President Dia Nichols and Advocate Health Chief Community and Social Impact Officer Dr. Kinneil Coltman offered details about our unique programs that are focused on keeping people well by providing access to preventative care and resources close to home.?The event raised more than $525K benefitting programs across Illinois and Wisconsin.

Congratulations to the Advocate Trinity Cath Lab team for completing the hospital’s first-ever Detour PTAB (Percutaneous transmural arterial bypass) procedure. This new, minimally invasive procedure rescues limbs in danger of amputation due to a loss of blood flow. With PTAB, interventional cardiologists can bypass totally blocked major veins and reestablish blood flow through superficial blood vessels of the leg. Meet Ewanya, a patient service representative at Advocate Health Care. She is going seven-years strong as a cancer survivor. The treatment for her stage four lymphoma paralyzed her left vocal cord. She could barely whisper. She performed at Advocate Health Has Talent to provide hope for people, to encourage them to keep moving forward and to pursue their dreams. Labor & Delivery teammates at Advocate Christ Medical Center got a visit from Chicago Bears linebacker Jack Sanborn. As part of the Baby Bears program, Jack helped gift our teammates surprise boxes that included Bears gear, Shell Fuel Rewards Cards and Dunkin’ Gift Cards. The Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab at Advocate South Suburban Hospital recently hosted a celebration to honor Veterans Day. Patients who are veterans, or have family members who are veterans, brought in photos to the clinic and had the opportunity to share their own stories with teammates they have gotten to know throughout their care. The participating patients were cheered on in recognition as they entered their class session. We extend our profound gratitude to our veterans and active-duty military members. Your courage, dedication and sacrifices are invaluable. Thank you for your service!

Advocate Health Care patient Colleen Dardis is a fighter. ?? Colleen was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer 50 years old following a routine colonoscopy, where doctors found several polyps. She was shocked as she had no symptoms leading up to the routine screening. And this wasn't Colleen's first bout with cancer - in her 20's, she was diagnosed and treated for Hodgkin lymphoma, the first cancer that she fought and beat. Colleen received all her care for colon cancer at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she endured surgeries and chemotherapy. Colleen, now cancer-free for one year, took the field at the Chicago Bears game to help unfurl the Bear Down flag as part of the pre-game ceremony, while also celebrating her own milestone. We are thrilled to announce that 19 of our Advocate Health hospitals have received an “A” rating for excellence in patient safety from The Leapfrog Group in their fall 2024 report card – the highest number of As earned by our organization in Leapfrog history! Aurora Health Care received the most “A” ratings of any health system in Wisconsin, earning 11 of the 19 A’s for the state. It was a double delivery day for sisters Catherine Cervantes and Brianna Andrade on October 10 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. Catherine's son, Nico, was born at 4:43 a.m. and nearly eight hours later Brianna's daughter, Josefina, was born at 12:10 p.m. Both babies were both delivered by Dr. Dianna Kim, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Advocate Condell. The cousins arrived earlier than expected; Catherine's son was due October 25 and Brianna's daughter was due October 28. The babies are now one month old and thriving at home. Catherine and Brianna, both first time mothers, look forward to many joyful years of double birthday celebrations for Nico and Josefina. Congratulations on your new arrivals! ?? Over 200 floral arrangements were delivered today to celebrate the 30,000th bouquet milestone from Inspire Through Flowers. ???? The local organization brings joy to health care workers, patients and community groups with repurposed flowers. Teammates across several departments at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital were surprised with flowers in recognition of their hard work and dedication.
