Yesterday, Vice President of Advocacy and Codes, Don Davis, attended the BOMA/Chicago board meeting and annual lunch meeting where he where he talked about the election results and BOMA Chicago’s transfer tax victory. Vice President of Advocacy and Codes, Don Davis, participated in a panel discussion on “E-Mobility Devices and Building Fire Safety: Navigating Emerging Risks Through Collaboration and Code Development” at the North American Modern Building Alliance inaugural Building Safety Symposium in Woodlands, TX.

Director of Federal Affairs, Sam Lopez, attended the BOMA California Board Meeting in Costa Mesa, CA where he presented a legislative and election update to the group. Sam also had the pleasure of attending the California Business Properties Association Industry Awards Dinner! Congratulations to Ellen Ticknor of Building Owners and Managers Association Orange County (BOMA OC) on winning the Ray Magnussen Memorial Award!

Last month, BOMA Raleigh-Durham held their October Luncheon! North Carolina Congresswoman, Deborah Ross, took the time to address issues impacting the CRE industry, whose insight greatly benefitted our members. Director of Federal Affairs, Sam Lopez, provided a legislative update and a bipartisan election overview. BOMA Raleigh-Durham's Government Affairs committee, including Chair Sarah Mould and Co-Chair William Crawford, successfully hosted a BOMA PAC fundraising event raising over $1,000 to support their efforts on the Hill. This month, the BOMA International Advocacy Department has been out and about! Check out some October highlights! ?? Vice President of Advocacy & Codes, Don Davis, and Director of Federal Affairs, Sam Lopez, had the pleasure of presenting BOMA International’s 2024 Legislator of the Year award to Congressman Mike Levin (CA-49) in San Diego, California. BOMA honored the Congressman for his continued efforts to support policies impacting the commercial real estate industry. ?? Director of Federal Affairs, Sam Lopez, gave a legislative and election update at the BOMA Greater Los Angeles Government Affairs meeting.? ?? Congressman Scott Peters spoke at BOMA San Diego's luncheon and updated our membership on legislative priorities that impact our industry. ?? Don Davis, Sam Lopez, and Blake Perez led a session at BOMA International’s BAE conference in Long Beach, California to talk about incorporating federal and state advocacy into their local associations.

The advocacy team made their way to Long Beach, California for the International Code Council 2024 Conference, Expo and Hearings. Vice President of Advocacy & Codes, Don Davis, had the pleasure of presenting a award to Dominic Sims for his collaboration with BOMA International and all the amazing work he had done for the codes community as he is set to retire at the end of the year. President and Chief Operating Officer, Henry Chamberlain, sat on a panel with other building industry leaders to provide his insights on what they see on the horizon for the industry. Manager of Government Affairs & PAC, Griffin Oursler and Henry Chamberlain represented BOMA International at the annual Ron Burton Golf tournament at the Harding Golf Course in Los Angeles. Thank you to the International Code Council for putting on a wonderful meeting and we look forward to the committee action hearings!
