The recent, seemingly quiet failure of a small bank in Oklahoma serves as a stark reminder: uninsured deposits are at risk, and depositors can be left in limbo, uncertain if their money will be recovered. While this event flew largely under the national radar, the impact on those with uninsured deposits is real. Advisors, now is the time to ensure your clients' funds are fully protected. If this had been another Silicon Valley Bank situation, the consequences would likely have been more widespread. Add to it that regulators have said that securing uninsured deposits going forward will be addressed, “on a case-by-case basis”.
