    Stop making your product so damn available. Overabundance is killing your brand's value, and here's why. If your product is everywhere, it's nowhere. Scarcity isn't just a luxury brand tactic—it's a strategic necessity for anyone serious about creating real value. But scarcity alone isn't the answer; it's about mastering the balance between scarcity and strategic physical and mental availability. Most brands flood the market, thinking that being everywhere is the key to success. It's not. Overabundance breeds irrelevance. When your product is always available, it loses its allure, its mystique, its perceived value. Strategic physical availability isn't about being in every store or plastered on every ad space. It's about being in the right places, where your presence feels intentional, curated, and rare. It's about showing up where it matters, so your audience feels like they've found something special—not something that's everywhere. Mental availability is just as crucial. You need to stay top of mind without overwhelming your audience. It's about being unforgettable, not omnipresent. You create intrigue, a desire that lingers, making your audience think, "I need this now," not "I'll get it later." Scarcity ties it all together. It breaks the anchor of constant access and shifts the narrative from "I can get this anytime" to "I have to act before it's gone." It makes your product not just available, but desirable.     Aspirin was used for over a century before we understood why it relieved pain. Physicists still don't fully understand how bicycles work. They just work. I often ask myself, "How the hell did I get here?" Starting an advertising agency was never my logical next step. I was a painter selling art out of the back of my father-in-law's pickup truck. I didn't have a skillset in marketing. But I think I was born with one useful skill, and maybe that's all I needed: I'm idiotically optimistic. So, even when logic said no, you're going to fail, I thought, "but what if it works?" Idiotic Optimism isn't about ignoring reality; it's about daring to believe in possibilities when logic says otherwise.     When I first started my marketing agency, I believed in the myth of the creative block. My team and I would stare at whiteboards, waiting for inspiration that never came, leaving us with half-baked ideas and dissatisfied clients. One rainy afternoon in a dingy café, I met Marvin Waldman, an advertising legend. He told me, “There’s no such thing as a creative block. Focus on solutions, not problems. Always keep your eyes on the endgame.” Desperation has a way of making advice sound profound. The next morning, I threw out our whiteboards and declared, “We’re done focusing on problems. It’s time to focus on solutions.” The shift was immediate. The team was energized, scribbling on notepads and brainstorming with fervor. We weren’t just brainstorming. We were finally solving. Marvin’s mantra, “What’s the objective? What’s the goal?” became our North Star. We employed a technique I called “precision attention weighing,” focusing intensely on the desired outcome. By lunchtime, we had our breakthrough campaign, which won us the client. Marvin’s wisdom revolutionized our approach. Creative blocks are illusions. By focusing on solutions and the end goal, the way forward always becomes clear.?
