Today you have the power to make a difference. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among women in California, according to the American Cancer Society. Thanks to invaluable support, the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center annually provides patients in East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights with: · More than 1,610 comprehensive cancer screenings, including breast cancer screenings, along with educational sessions. · More than 2,650 radiation oncology treatments. · More than 510 infusion treatments and transfusions to improve patient outcomes. · 100% donor-supported breast cancer support groups and pet therapy program serving 74 patients going through this journey. Now, we've established the first-ever comprehensive breast cancer navigation clinic for patients with managed Medi-Cal in LA County — a vital resource for promoting continuous care — and allowed us to begin construction to install the new state-of-the-art CT Simulator. Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya’s breast cancer story began in 1988 when she came to our Adventist Health White Memorial facing a dire breast cancer diagnosis. She bravely fought until her passing in 1990. Inspired by her battle, her son, #OscarDeLaHoya, contributed $350,000 to establish a cancer center in her honor. Today, the Cecilia Gonzalez De La Hoya Cancer Center still provides hope, healing and a compassionate support system for patients and their families.
