关于我们
Located in the heart of Birmingham, AL, the Magic City, Advent Episcopal School serves students in prekindergarten through 8th grade. Our mission is to provide a superior, advanced, and enriched education to a diverse student population in a caring, Christian environment at an independent, equal-opportunity school. The school staff believes that each child is unique and is in a constant process of change. Because of this, the mental development of each child cannot be isolated from the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The individual child should be exposed to and involved in the total learning process—thinking, planning, and problem solving. To develop fully the potential of each child, the school staff seeks and uses the best methods and materials available in each area of learning, believing that all areas of learning should be related to and interwoven with a student’s every experience. To assist in the continuing growth of each child, Advent teachers employ varied learning concepts and provide an atmosphere of enthusiasm for learning. Further, it is believed that a continuing evaluation of the learning process of each child in relation to the school program is essential.

This year, we are thrilled to celebrate?75 years of Advent Episcopal School. From our founding in 1950 to today, Advent has shaped countless lives, preparing generations of students for lives of continued learning, leadership, and service to others. To mark this milestone, we are excited to unveil our 75th anniversary crest! The design is inspired by the stained glass windows of the Nave, which many consider the heart of our school. These three windows symbolize our commitment to excellence in?teaching, the joy of?learning, and the deep sense of?belonging?that defines our community. This crest will be at the center of our celebrations this year as we honor our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to a bright future! Visit our website for information about upcoming events and opportunities to join us in commemorating 75 years of excellence in the heart of downtown Birmingham! https://lnkd.in/eDWjt532

"Being tech-intentional means making deliberate choices about when and how technology is used in our classrooms. It is about recognizing that technology can be a powerful tool for learning, collaboration, and creativity while also being mindful of its potential to distract, disengage, or overwhelm." Check out our latest blog post to learn more about our thoughtful, balanced approach to our relationship with technology.

In our early childhood elementary program, we believe that a strong foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics is essential for early literacy development. To support this, we use two programs: Heggerty and Phonics First. Together, these programs provide our Pre-K and Kindergarten students with the tools they need to become confident, capable readers. Click to read more about what these programs look like in action!

Like most things, technology in our lives comes with benefits and challenges. Helping students and kids navigate that maze is critical. I would highly encourage you to join us for this event sponsored by Advent Episcopal School and our Advent Parents Association.
