Last week was filled with impactful events for #teamadvantous, starting off with sponsoring and attending the 2024 Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives Annual Conference in West Monroe. Then, we headed to the Gulf Coast Regional Fly-In to DC, presented by Advantous, where our partners, friends, and clients gathered to share their stories to a bipartisan group of legislators from across the country. #DCFlyIn #LACCEconference
Had a busy (but fun) week last week. Kicked the week off Sunday and Monday at the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives conference in Monroe/West Monroe. Laura Lyles and Ruth Wisher put on a heck of an event. I made it home just in time to catch a flight for our Gulf Coast Regional Fly-In to DC where our partners, friends, and clients told their stories to a bipartisan group of legislators from around the country. There are too many people to thank on this post, but Monique T. , Deborah Randolph, IOM, Stuart Moss, and Kea Sherman all played really pivotal roles in pulling the trip off. Also, we could not have done it without the support from our sponsors and partners, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute.

Thank you to the Institute for Professionals in Taxation for inviting me to speak at the Sales Tax Symposium last week! And special thanks to my speaking partner, Jeremy Sandel for joining me (and providing our additional visual aid!). I hope the audience enjoyed it as much as we did. Thanks again to IPT for putting on another great event—I’m already looking forward to next year!

Office of Governor Jeff Landry held a press conference this morning to announce his plans to call a Special Session in November aimed at reforming Louisiana's tax code to address the state's impending budget deficit, estimated to potentially equal upwards of $800M. For more information, please contact Advantous' Government Relations team members Jason DeCuir and Mary L. Robinson, MBA.

For those of you keeping tabs on Washington, you know last week was a mad dash to pass a CR, funding the government for a few more months. A kicking of the proverbial can down the road (mainly past the election). In the midst of the mayhem, an energized group of advocates for the LNG industry united for a Gulf Coast Fly In to relay the on the ground stories of the positive impacts of the LNG industry on the lives of our hard working people, the small business community, and the overall economy (all while lowering emissions) to members of the LA, TX, and GA Congressional Delegations, as well as other policy leaders. Conversely, we met with the new commissioner of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), David Rosner, to explain the negative impacts the DOE’s pause on LNG export permits (to non FTA countries) is having along the gulf coast. Thanks to Advantous Consulting, Matt Rookard, Monique Thierry (U.S. Chamber) and all who helped organize it!
