Summer is in full-effect! ?? During this time, we recommend the following five tips for protecting yourself against the sun's powerful UV rays: 1. Use Sunscreen Daily: Apply sunscreen with broad-spectrum protection (against both UVA and UVB rays) every day, even on cloudy days. Choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply every two hours, especially if you're outdoors. 2. Wear Protective Clothing: When possible, cover up exposed skin with clothing, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats. Look for clothing with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating for added protection. 3. Seek Shade: Limit your direct exposure to the sun during peak UV radiation hours, typically between 10 AM and 4 PM. If you're outdoors, try to stay in shaded areas, especially if you're spending extended periods outside. 4. Wear Sunglasses: Protect your eyes from UV radiation by wearing sunglasses that block 100% of UVA and UVB rays. Look for sunglasses labeled as UV400 or providing 100% UV protection. 5. Avoid Tanning Beds: UV radiation from tanning beds can be as harmful as UV radiation from the sun. Avoid using tanning beds altogether to reduce your risk of skin damage and skin cancer.
